People...I agree, but I think it is too much to ask. People are ultimately motivated by their deepest premises and their moral foundation. For many on the right, that moral foundation is heavily influenced by Christianity. Many Conservatives believe that America is going down the path of tyranny largely because of secularism and "liberalism," the latter which is improperly defined. I can't for the life of me see the Conservatives abandon social issues. And since they wont, secular oriented people are going to continue to gravitate to the Left. Thus the empiricist/rationalist, subjectivist/intrinsicist, whim-worshiping/religious dogma false alternatives will continue to perpetuate.

We are in a terrible bind as a culture. The Left is wholly evil. But the Right is still motivated by a benevolent interpretation of Christianity which they refuse to abandon for fear that nothing can replace it. Thus Christian altruism serves to further the agenda of Progressive Leftism. The only thing that could break this cycle to oblivian is Rand. But the hatred that will be directed at her will be enormous.

We have some uphill battle.

On a lighter note, I love your blog; some of the best Objectivist commentary I've seen.

D.
